Top Older Toddler Child care in Ossining New York at Ossining Children's Center

Daycare program for Toddlers ages 2 to 4 years at OCC

An interdisciplinary and invigorating daycare program for older Toddlers

Play is Child’s Work! The curriculum for our older toddlers is play-based and open-ended. Children and teachers talk about any and everything children bring to the classroom, whether object or idea. On any given day, they may build a block city, read about construction equipment, make a three-dimensional collage, and study dinosaurs, all while building critical cognitive and “academic” skills.

Daily routines include:

  • A wooden abacus with colorful beads in red, black, yellow, green, and beige, arranged on metal rods.

    Pre-math

stacking and counting blocks; sorting and ordering; music and rhythm

  • Close-up of a plasma globe with pink and blue electric filaments emanating from the center in a dark background.

    Science

nature-based activities such as our annual caterpillar / butterfly metamorphosis as well as gardening curriculum.

  • A young girl sitting at a wooden table, reading a Dr. Seuss book titled 'Hop on Pop' in a brightly lit room.

    Pre-literacy

reading along with teachers and drawing pictures for their journals.

  • A young girl in a blue and white striped shirt and blue shorts walking on grass in a park, with trees and plants in the background.

    Emotional

acting out experiences and issues that may be bothering them through dramatic play

  • A woman and a young girl sitting on a bed, looking at a tablet together.

    Social

teamwork and cooperation through group activities; taking responsibility for “jobs” like line leader or feeding the fish

  • A young child with glasses sitting on a potty in a tiled bathroom.

    Potty Training

Staff continue to work three-year olds on mastering potty skills.
