Top Infant Child care in Ossining New York at Ossining Children's Center
Daycare program for Infants ages 8 weeks to 18 months at OCC.
A personalized, enriching daycare program for Infants
Each of our infants is given a personal Primary Caregiver, who is responsible for just two infants in that classroom. Each infant is on their own daily schedule, closely mirroring their at-home routine established by parents/guardians. This predictability and consistency helps our littlest ones feel safe and secure at their home-away-from-home.
Daily routines include:
-

Feeding
On demand feeding or on a schedule, as determined by parents, to ensure proper nutrition.
-

Breastfeeding
We are a Breastfeeding Friendly Day Care, designated by the New York State Department of Health’s Child and Adult Care Food Program.
-

Tummy Time
This encourages core and neck strength development in young children and is encouraged by the NIH.
-

Outdoor Walks & Play
It is important for children to spend time outside, every day, and to interact with other children in play.
-

Reading aloud
Crucial in building language, literacy, and cognitive skills while fostering a love for reading, and providing foundational support for academic success and lifelong learning
-

Sensory exploration
Essential in stimulating their five main senses—sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell—along with movement (vestibular) and body awareness (proprioception) and fundamental to early brain development
-

Music
Providing music to children stimulates all areas of child development—intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy.
-

Learning to Talk
Teachers talk, sing, and read to your baby every day, following their lead and interests and using simple, clear words and repeating them often.
We aim to be your child’s second home!
The bond between caregiver and child is the primary force in infant development – both in the classroom and at home. When infants are confident that their physical and emotional needs will be met, they learn to be self-assured and trusting.
Primary caregivers in the classroom play with our infants and calm them when they are distressed, helping shape healthy development of the brain through regulation of the nervous system. These bonds nurture a child’s ability to focus and regulate emotions. This interaction also fosters children’s natural desire to learn.
We pair every infant with a primary caregiver trained to develop a bond that mirrors the child’s attachment to a parent or guardian. And, because OCC maintains a committed, high tenure staff, your child’s attachment to his or her caregiver will not be disrupted by staff turnover.
