How to Give

Why Give?

Of the 160 children enrolled at the Ossining Children’s Center, more than 75 per cent receive some tuition assistance. At least half of the working families who use the Center earn less than $35,000 per year.
Your gift to our tuition assistance program will empower children to reach their full potential and will produce economic benefits for our entire community. Nobel Laureate Economist James Heckman has demonstrated that the return on investment in the early education of disadvantaged children is between 7 and 10 per cent per year – over the course of 40 years – both for the children and for society as a whole.
The Ossining Children’s Center is an IRS designated 501 (c) 3 not for profit organization; contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our Federal Tax ID number is 13-1861927.

Secure the future of OCC with a Planned Gift.

Planned giving is a way to ensure that the Ossining Children’s Center will be able to continue to serve future generations. Planned gifts include bequests through your will, gifts that provide income to you and others for life, gifts of life insurance, charitable lead trusts, and gifts of retirement plans.

Why write a Will?

Writing a Will is the only way that you can be certain that your wishes will be followed after you die.

Family and friends first – then think of the Ossining Children’s Center.

Of course family and friends come first. Once you have taken care of your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift that will make a real and lasting difference.

Don’t you have to be rich to leave money to charity in your Will?

It is a myth that only the rich leave legacies to charity. In fact the majority of legacies are from people of average means. Each and every gift, regardless of size, counts and will help make a difference to future generations of children in Ossining.

Ways to give through wills:

  • Give only the remainder, or “residue,” of your estate—that which remains after bequests to your loved ones have been made.
  • Designate that a percentage of your estate be given through your will.
  • Leave a specific dollar amount
  • Provide for a gift of specific property-real estate, stocks or other items.

The following is a suggested form for a bequest:

“I give and bequeath to the Ossining Children’s Center, a not-for-profit corporation, located at 32 State Street, Ossining, NY 10562, the sum of $________, to be used for the accomplishment of its general purposes.”
